Killer Queen II

Hey y'alls. Long Live Queen Freddie! is still a go. This past week and a half has mostly been me, adjusting to my new self-employment and getting into the groove of making art, non-stop. I've been retraining my mind to work during the day (it's fuggin HARD), entering contests, watching videos about painting WHILE painting, and finishing up some stuff that's been sitting around for far too long. Like this piece.

This is a show poster. So whenever I figure out a time, place, and all that jazz, all that info will go in the upper left. This is also the second poster out of two I'm doing for the show. The first has yet to be shown, but it's been finished for quite some time now. It's far more simple. More design. More iconic.

If you haven't gathered, this image is an interpretation of the lyrics to Queen's hit Killer Queen. Here are the lyrics. Have fun finding stuff!

She keeps Moet et Chandon
In her pretty cabinet
'Let them eat cake' she says
Just like Marie Antoinette
A built-in remedy
For Kruschev and Kennedy
At anytime an invitation
You can't decline
Caviar and cigarettes
Well versed in etiquette
Extraordinarily nice
She's a Killer Queen
Gunpowder, gelatine
Dynamite with a laser beam
Guaranteed to blow your mind
Anytime
Recommended at the price
Insatiable an appetite
Wanna try?
To avoid complications
She never kept the same address
In conversation
She spoke just like a baroness
Met a man from China
Went down to Geisha Minah
Then again incidentally
If you're that way inclined
Perfume came naturally from Paris
For cars she couldn't care less
Fastidious and precise
She's a Killer Queen
Gunpowder, gelatine
Dynamite with a laser beam
Guaranteed to blow your mind
Anytime
Drop of a hat she's as willing as
Playful as a pussy cat
Then momentarily out of action
Temporarily out of gas
To absolutely drive you wild, wild.
She's all out to get you
She's a Killer Queen
Gunpowder, gelatine
Dynamite with a laser beam
Guaranteed to blow your mind
Anytime
Recommended at the price
Insatiable an appetite
Wanna try?
You wanna try...

As you can see, not everything is in there, but gorram nearly enough. It was quite the process. I took some snapshots along the way.

I learned a LOT about process. Moving forward with images that are this elaborate, I'll be saving a massive amount of time by eliminating erratic experimentation with color, value, method and texture.

For those interested in learning even more about my process, I'll have some details on an event later this month that'll be all about just that. In the future, I may even go so far as to live stream some stuff.
