There is no art. There are only artists.I spent an entire day at the Louvre. Again. The Louvre is probably my favorite museum? Maybe? I'm not sure. All I know is that I've spent far more time at the Louvre than any other museum in the entire world.
There are countless artifacts that blow my mind each time I see them. Like this slab of stone.
Look at that. It's stunning. And the Louvre has the CRAZIEST paintings. These three are fuckin insane.
That MONKEY IS PAINTING A PICTURE, you guys. This is the end of times. Truly.
And the lady is just screamin at a lion like it's gonna listen. NO LADY! That lion loves the taste of babies and there's nothin you can do about it. You see his face? That's a face of serenity. He doesn't care about you. He's eatin that baby.
Lastly, the saint with the cleaver in his dome? That's not the only painting of him. People love this cat. I love him. He's hardcore. No one else is able to walk around with sharp objects lodged in their skull outside of the T-1000.
And the Louvre is full of awesome shit like this. They have a whole slew of fantastic sculptures, including one of my all-time favorites.
Psyche Revived by Cupid's Kiss
Then, of course, there are the masters. Michelangelo, Donatello. All the turtles.
And Delacroix.

Jeune Orpheune au cimetiere - 1824 |
I'm not necessarily a gigantic fan of Delacroix as a whole, but the stuff he does really well, he does REALLY well.
And just to show a little of my process of sketching/drawing on this trip, I tried out a new thing where I used light grey/green markers to create the basic shapes and lines. Then I drew over them in pencil or/then straight to pen and/or brushpen. It all depends on the lines that I wanted to achieve. Most times it would turn out great or far better than expected. And sometimes, it would be miserable. Anyhow, this is a pre-Photoshopped version of today's sketch, which I think turned out pretty OK.
Au revoir.
